Warming-Cooling Center Update
As we made it through the “freeze” I AM glad to announce that the idea to house individuals in need with warm shelter for the three days of freezing temperatures in our area was a complete success.
We started out with two individuals and a third one from the 1st Baptist Church outreach came between 9-10 pm on Sunday.
These individuals were accommodated with meals, showers, TV, blankets (which they were allowed to keep), laundry services to clean their clothes and additional clothing (socks, underwear incl) for the weather.
We had one individual who stayed for the NA meetings that are held here on Thursday and we were grateful for his participation at the meeting.
We were able to accommodate several individuals who just came in for showers because of busted water pipes at home or just to have a hot meal.
We served 28 meals from Sunday evening (8 pm) to Wednesday at (5 pm) which is when that “special” program ended.
I want to thank all the donors that came our way to help those in need during this freezing weather. We have an abundance of supplies left over and it will all be put to use within the center as we approach more cold weather in the future.
None of this would have been possible without your donations so know that ALL of you are appreciated.
