Our Story
In September of 2021 to help the citizens of Bishop, Texas with basic life needs, my wife and I organized the Citizens Planning Committee. We started out with money we were saving to take a vacation.
Sadly, in November of 2021 my son drowned in a boating accident. He was always helpful to others, so we wanted to honor his memory through the non-profit.
The following January, my wife was diagnosed with terminal breast cancer and passed away in March of 2022. That same month, my mother and brother also passed.
I came out of my stupor in June of 2022 and decided to apply for a 501(c)(3), open a bank account for the non-profit, and move the organization in a forward direction as a legacy to my wife.
The non-profit has been blessed with a business office where citizens can come for services.
We receive monetary and clothing donations from Walmart and from concerned citizens that want to move the community forward.

What we do.
There is a homeless population within Bishop who don't get to eat regular meals. The Citizens Planning Committee decided to start a TV Dinner Program to ensure a meal could be provided each day.
In addition to the TV Dinner Program, we have developed several programs to help the citizens of Bishop.
Through grants and public donations, we have been able to provide the following:
Citizens Action Committee (Environmental Adjustments)
Laundry Washing program (pending)
As of July 2023, we have helped 72 families with our various programs.
Local Involvement
We use a Bishop Citizen Resource list and hire Bishop citizens to perform tasks for the non-profit as well as referrals to other citizens within the city who call us for resources.
Grants and Donations
We have written several grants to other organizations to help with the funding of our soup kitchen. Some grants have already been denied and others have been granted. Most of the grants written have a recurring grant process each year so we will continue to connect with them on a yearly basis.
Monthly Involvement
We are active within the community with monthly visits to the City Council to represent the citizens of Bishop and their interests in helping our city move forward.
Thank you.
We are truly grateful to those who sympathize with our mission in the Bishop community who have donated funds or goods to help further our mission. If not for these special donors, we would not be where we are today with the programs that we offer.
