Update on the Center
We have been blessed with so many clothing and item donations that I have been sharing these items with other ministries that also help the homeless “Hands of Hope” in Kingsville with Pastor Torres and also the Salvation Army attached to the Kingsway Family church also in Kingsville.
Yesterday I finished the 2nd Grant for this year so far and more will be written to help keep our mission afloat. I wrote the Grant to the Behmann Brothers Foundation for $4,500.00 this year. They did bless us with $3,000.00 last year but our programs have increased tremendously so we are offering more to those in need than we were at this same time last year.
Two weeks ago we received our Grant funds from Walmart. I wrote the Grant for $3,000.00 and we received $1,500.00 and we immediately used a portion to get the Soup Kitchen fixing food instead of serving TV dinners.
We are getting a good flow of people coming from all over to shop in our Thrift Shop and even those out-of-towners are donating needed grocery items to help us along the way.
We have completed a lot of modifications in the facility that allowed us to have more shelf space which immediately became full..a good thing.
The laundry program had a setback because the heating element in our dryer went out. We spoke with a citizen who wants to donate a dryer but we are waiting on that to be delivered.
The volunteers are doing a wonderful job especially when it comes to fixing the soup…they also help in the Thrift Shop putting up items and making things more visible so people can shop easier…they are a tremendous help to our program.
We are still working on the children’s toy area as well as the area for parent/children movie night…there are boxes stacked where the seats are located.
We are still waiting on funds to get the Espresso machine and a volunteer Barista to start our “Main Street Coffee Cup” program.
We are and always will be in need of monetary donations to help in continuing our mission so if God moves upon you to give…please do. It will be put to good use right back into the community
May God continue His blessings for you and your families and please remember…WE ARE OUR BROTHERS KEEPER.
Please enjoy your weekend…I appreciate you all.
